Linda Slater-Dowling — Founder of the Nutritional Institute

She has owned and managed several businesses over the past 20 years, and has 25 years of experience interacting with the natural health industry. Natural health and nutrition remedies have been Linda’s life’s passion, and she is so excited to be able to share the remarkable health powers of all-natural organic foods and health products with all of you.

Linda, having experienced firsthand the negative health effects of contaminants while visiting New York in 2002, has since made it her mission to help others find healthy, natural ways to heal.

Her dream is that one day, affordable health foods and supplements will be available to everyone.
Hello! Natural health and nutrition remedies have been my life’s passion for the last 19 years, and I am so excited to be able to share the remarkable health powers of all-natural organic foods and health products with all of you. The creation of Nutritional Institute’s STUDENT FORMULA™ products has truly been a labor of love for me, one that was preceded by almost two decades of study with a naturopathic physician, and spurred by own triumph using natural foods to heal.

My Story:

Having experienced first-hand the incredible benefits of what I call a “natural, organic lifestyle” is what’s given me the tenacity and desire to share this gift with others. In 2002, I traveled to New York City to take a 50-mile bike ride around the city. At the time, I was in good health (and had been following a healthy lifestyle for years), but that all soon changed. Our hotel happened to look out directly over Ground Zero, and I recall being astonished that the streets were still being watered down to remove debris, and somewhat awestruck at the massive construction efforts going on.

By the time I returned home, I had become extremely ill; I believe due to some type of contaminant I was exposed to near Ground Zero. My esophagus felt burned, I couldn’t breath, I had developed severe acid reflux and as a result hated to eat. Soon I lost a lot of weight and developed pneumonia that persisted for months because my immune system was too weak to fight it off. I literally felt at times that I wouldn’t make it-and all of this had developed, quite literally, overnight!

Well, all of the tests and drugs that allopathic doctors could give me did not make me better. What did heal me, and now, years later, has gotten me almost completely back to normal, was following an intensely healthy diet that included vegetable juicing several times a day, taking plenty of digestive enzymes and eating soothing aloe vera after meals. And I am not alone. I have seen similar miraculous results in others facing different health challenges who adopt healthy lifestyles.

My Philosophy:

I’m optimistic. I’m not here to focus on disease, but rather on the prevention of disease-using natural foods, healthy products and all-natural remedies. If we held a nationwide vote, my guess is that most people would inherently choose to have healthier foods (the kind without added hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, trans fats, etc.) and a cleaner environment. But the reality is that many Americans, despite living in the most prolific country in the world, do not have access to the very things that will keep them well: pure, healthy food and a clean, non-toxic environment.

It is my sincere belief that we can change this by helping one person at a time to adopt a healthier lifestyle, and together ultimately build a cleaner, healthier world..

My dream is that one day, affordable health foods and supplements will be available to everyone, but I have established this Web site for students because our future begins with them. The young adults of today have the power to demand a change in the way our food is grown, the way our health is treated and the way our very environment progresses tomorrow.

In short, we need to transform our worldview into one that values what nature has to offer over what scientists can create. I like to use dandelions as an example. Few people know that these “weeds” are incredibly healthy for the liver, gallbladder, kidneys and digestion. But, rather than valuing these plants, we kill them-typically with highly toxic chemicals-and choose instead to value our artificially created green lawns.

Our Mission:

I BELIEVE that, given the proper tools, students will make healthy choices, and it’s our purpose at the Nutritional Institute to provide students with these tools–in the form of the most up-to-date natural health news and high-quality, student-centered natural health products-so young adults can achieve and maintain the healthy lives they’re meant to lead.

OUR MISSION statement is Be Smart, Be Healthy. Nutritional Institute is committed to educating today’s young adults about the astonishing benefits of fulfilling their nutritional needs. With this knowledge, we believe they can turn around the health-worsening trend that’s emerged in the past decades and instead transform themselves, from the inside out, into a healthier, more confident and brighter generation.
